Antioch, Discovery Bay, Brentwood, & Walnut Creek Pool Filter Cleaning
The main key to having a clean and healthy swimming environment is a properly maintained filter. We want to ensure that you enjoy your swimming experience every time without having to worry about junk in your water. By having a clean pool filter, it provides a way to remove visible debris and unwanted matter. The pool filter is working to safeguard your health and prevent the water from turning green and cloudy. Because the pool filter often does it’s job without complications, it can be easy to forget about filter maintenance. Regular cleaning is still needed to ensure the ultimate experience and health of your swimming pool.
There are many types of filters available to pool owners depending on your needs. The main and most common ones are DE filters, Cartridge filters, and Sand filters. We service all three and we’re happy to answer any questions you may have regarding the type of filter your pool needs.
D.E. Filters
DE filters use a fine substance called diatomaceous earth (DE) to filter water. DE is a powdery substance that is used to coat a set of grids inside of pool filters. Its fine, porous qualities make it ideal for cleaning water as it flows through a filter’s grids. DE is included during the process of backwashing your pool every month as it is needed with this service. It’s also crucial to ensure that the proper amount of DE is placed back into it after cleaning this type of filter so having the right professionals do the job is very important. Our trusted and trained pool experts can do the job!
Cartridge Filters
Cartridge filters are used to capture various debris and dirt. Because of this, they need to be cleaned regularly during peak swimming season, as well as the off-season. You can clean a cartridge filter by taking it apart. Cartridge filters have similar qualities to DE filters, except for the fact that they only depend on cartridges to filter the water. Some use reusable cartridges that can be removed and cleaned while others use cartridges that need to be disposed and replaced after a certain time period. While they do not have a backwash option, they do need to be cleaned every 4 months. Give us a call to chat about after options for your pool.
Sand Filters
Simply put, sand filters use sand to filter the pools water. Sand filters differ the most from the filters listed above because they don’t utilize any grids or cartridges. They work by allowing water to cycle through a canister that contains sand. The water flows through the sand with ease, but larger particles are unable to pass through. Once the debris and other particles have been filtered out by the sand, a pump moves the clean water back into the pool. Sand filters require periodic backwashing and sand replacement. They should also be deep cleaned regularly while the circulation system is in operation. In addition to backwashing, you should chemically clean this type of filter twice in summer or as required. Generally the sand is changed every three to five years, depending on use.
